Mother/Daughter Winter Encouragement FAQ

Thank you to all who have been checking this site and emailing us questions! We will try to help you prepare for the Mother/Daughter Winter Encouragement by answering some of them here in a general FAQ format.

May I bring my nursing infant?
Yes! Just be aware that food will not be provided for your nursing child.

What is the distance from the hotel to the church and is there a shuttle available?
It is approximately 4.5 miles between the two locations. Yes, the church has graciously provided a shuttle between the two facilities.

May grandmothers attend?
Grandmothers are especially welcome!
May I then pay as a daughter?
We recognize that being a daughter has its privileges but we also know that sometimes being a mother requires taking the hard road. While we definitely don't want to discourage anyone from motherhood, we must, at this time, require registering mothers to pay as mothers.

What ages is this appropriate for?
We have deliberately left that decision to the parents. We have posted the schedule and will answer any questions you may have about the facilities, activities, or content as best we can to help you make that determination.

What about food allergies?
If you have a food allergy, please list it on your registration form. We will try to accomodate your needs as best we can. You are also welcome to bring your own food (the registration price will not change) if it is a concern to you.

As we receive more inquiries we will post more FAQ and answers.

Camp Sessions

Only one month away and the excitement is building as the details are nailed down. We thought you'd like to see them as they fall into place as well.

While there will be lots of time to play and fellowship at the father/son camp, we will also be challenged as Norm helps us define what Godly men really look like. Below are the topics and the speaking schedule for camp:

Friday evening It’s a matter of Identity
Saturday morning The calling out of sons: what’s a father?
Saturday morning Rising to the call: understanding God’s
Saturday(maybe) evening The importance of God’s forerunners
Saturday evening The spirit of Elijah: the father/son Sunday morning Anchored in Christ

We're looking forward to seeing you all there!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

We finally have a location set for our father/son campout! A very generous homeschooling father has offered the use of his property in Franklin, Georgia. It's pretty remote and our men will truly be roughing it at camp this year. No running water, no showers, but a pond. Campers will need to be sure to bring lots of drinking water. King Kan has been contacted to provide outhouse service for the weekend, so they won't be completely "Daniel Boone-ing". The difficulties will only serve to bring campers closer together. We're sure that those who come will be blessed.

Father/Son Campout 2009 Details

Greetings! Welcome to our new site; We're gearing up for our first-ever father/son campout.

Join us September 18-20, 2009 when Norm Wakefield, author of Equipping Men, Anchored in Christ, and Walking Worthy, will speak to our men, young men, and men-in-training as they face the challenges of roughing it in midwest Georgia. In a culture where wimpy immature men are the standard, we'll be challenged to fight against the current trends to take our place as heads of our home and learn how to train our sons to do the same as Godly men of the Word.

There will also be physical challenges for our men to participate in as they choose: tug-o-war, ultimate frisbee, softball, capture the flag, and relay races. And we're pretty sure a corn toss tournament will be organized soon after arrival.

If you can get here, and can figure out some means of sleeping for a couple of nights (tent, pop-up, RV, etc.) the event is free! A love offering will be taken to help defray costs and bless Mr. Wakefield. Friday and Saturday the dinner meal will be provided for our campers but other meals will need to be furnished on their own. If this piques your curiosity or excites you and you have more questions or would like to register, please email us at: father_son@bellsouth.net or sechristianhomediscipleship@yahoo.com

See you there!!
